This initiative is open to all wineries belonging to the five designations of origin of Galician wine, and is intended to function as a complementary means to the existing ones in order to improve the knowledge of Galician wines in the destination countries of the European Union and to open new marketing channels.

The WINES.GAL project pursues the following objectives:

To value the quality and qualities of the wines produced by all the wineries belonging to the designations of origin of Galicia.

To promote awareness of the varieties, designations of origin and brands of Galician wines in various destination markets in the European Union, in particular, initially: Holland, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Ireland and Belgium.

Running advertising campaigns on digital platforms such as Google Adwords and Facebook Ads, some of which are generic platforms and others specific to each winery and/or each wine registered on the platform.

To implement, from 2019 onwards, a system of direct sales by wineries to the international end consumer, who would benefit from advantageous conditions in terms of shipping costs. Participation in this system will be optional, if the winery deems it appropriate for its business model to open this direct marketing channel.

From 2019, offer wineries registered on the platform the possibility of managing their direct sales through Amazon. This management will be optional for those wineries that consider it appropriate and that are not yet making this sale by their own means.

Annually, the WINES.GAL team will send a report to the wineries setting out the most relevant quantitative data of the platform, so that the winery can evaluate the impact and projection achieved thanks to its participation in this project.

The smallholdings that predominate in the private part of the Galician mountains prevent rational forest management, as the average size of the plots is around 2,700 metres. This small size makes forestry work difficult and reduces the profitability of uses.

For more than a decade, the Xunta has been making efforts to promote groups of owners for the joint management of their plots, but with more pain than glory. The Galician Forestry Plan insists on the same line. In the six years that the model of forestry development companies (Sofor) has been in force, a total of 11 have been created in Galicia, grouping together just over 1,800 hectares, 0.1% of the private forest property in Galicia.

The XESFOR project aims to help in the internal administrative management of this type of companies, simplifying tasks such as the traceability of the ownership of the plots, the calculation of the participation of each partner and the distribution of the benefits of logging.

We currently have a prototype (alpha version) of the application, which can be accessed by clicking on the following link:

The nurseries of Ameixa de Carril are, together with the bateas that abound in the landscape of the Rías Baixas, two administratively singular figures. Uses and customs in the Rías Baixas tend to treat these assets as any other private property, i.e., transfers of these assets become onerous as well as through wills and donations.

However, the Xunta de Galicia tends to consider these assets as administrative concessions finite in time and not freely transferable.

In this scenario of legal exceptionality, the proposed KRAKEN application aims to serve the public administration responsible for the regulation of these figures as a tool to electronically record the changes of ownership in the concessions and maintain their traceability over time, considering all possible cases in these particular estates.
